Right off the top, thanks so much for all the messages asking how we’re doing, and the offers to help us out. We really appreciate it! Ally and I are slowly getting back into action here. We’ll see you on the live stream today at noon EST. We’ll be drawing the winner of the “FIELD NOTES” mega-pack AND Ally wants to give away a new Bella hoodie she’s cooked up. (not available yet!)

Embracing The Unexpected
Life has a funny way of laughing at our best-laid plans sometimes. You've probably faced moments when, despite all your ambitions, something unexpected tosses you off course. This past week, I became one of those statistics: stricken down by Covid.
Yep, that happened.
Last week’s newsletter was riddled with errors. I wrote it very late and barely could stay awake. I didn’t want to break the chain.
I had grand plans of shooting a flurry of videos, getting ahead on promoting our epic Promptober drawing challenge, and diving headfirst into a sea of creativity. But NOPE.
With my voice sounding like a gravelly-voiced pirate and my energy drained, that plan got shelved fast.
But here's the silver lining: it's okay to slow down and take care of yourself. Our bodies and minds, resilient as they are, sometimes need a break.
This downtime, although unplanned, gave me an opportunity to recalibrate and refocus. While I couldn't produce videos, I wasn't totally out of the game. I managed to delve into some planning for future content. With limited energy, lengthy drawing sessions became a challenge, but I made a pact with myself - a sketch a day.
No pressure, no grand outcomes, just the pure act of creation. And guess what? Each stroke, each scribble, made me feel alive again, even if only momentarily.
For the SECRET PROMPT list (daily club members know!), I decided to lean into a more simple cartoon style, just because it’s a little faster for me to get through. But, surprisingly, I really liked how cute all these baddies came out. I even had two people comment and say they want to buy my full sketchbook when I’m done. (sorry, not for sale)
Adjust, Adapt, Advance
Life won't always go the way we planned. Whether it's illness, unexpected events, or just the curveballs life throws our way, it's essential to remember that every obstacle offers a lesson. Stay sharp and be ready to get creative and pivot your way out.
If & When Your Plans Get Derailed:
Pause and Reflect: Recognize the setback and give yourself grace.
Re-Evaluate: Identify what you can and can't do given the circumstances.
Adapt: Focus on tasks you can still accomplish and prioritize them.
Stay Connected: Keep your community, friends, or peers informed. They're your support system.
Maintain a Routine: Even if it's a small one, like sketching for 5 minutes a day.
Rest and Recharge: Listen to your body and mind. Rest is a form of productivity.
Celebrate Small Wins: Every task you manage to complete is a step forward.
Plan Ahead: Use this time to think, strategize, and prepare for when you're back at full throttle.
