042: Up for a challenge?

Wherein we release the official 28 drawing prompts of February!

I had a very busy first week of the year. It was definitely challenging to find the creative energy every day to draw, but even on those kind of days, I always can do a Scribble Challenge or some SMALL art to keep my pencil moving.

Thanks to everyone who sent in prompt suggestions for our February drawing challenge… 28! I wish I could have picked them all, but I think we’ve come up with a great mix… here are the official February Drawing Prompts!

How to take part?

1. Draw the prompt every day in February!

2. Post to social channel of your choice with hashtag #drawordieclub and #28drawings - so we can see your work!

3. If you get behind, no worries! Just try to draw all 28 by the end of the month!

Why you should take part?

1. Keep that pencil hand strong! Drawing every day, even if something small, keeps your skills and your mind sharp!

2. Encourages OTHERS. When they see YOU doing it, they know it’s possible for them too. Your little drawings can inspire…. like a butterfly effect.

3. Improves your own skills. Even if you’re a rockstar visual artist, there’s always more to learn and explore. This is great excercise to maybe try new things or push yourself… even if only for 10-15 minutes a day. Let’s see what you’ve got!

4. A great excuse to POST MORE. You’ll build your own audience and make new connections. In Promptober we saw so many artists of all skill levels supporting one another with kind words, or sincerely getting to know each other. That’s a real win. Especially since the act of art can be so solitary.

I’m committing by going LIVE, EVERY night…

I committed to going live on Youtube every night in February, at 8pm EST to draw that day’s prompt. I want to do this to show that even me, with a busy day job, personal life, AND i have other art projects going on… I can still show up and try. Some days I may fail. Some days the drawings might be junk… And that’s okay too!

Weekly Video Re-Cap!

It was a another busy week over on Youtube!

Wednesday Weekly Warm-up! I did an exercise of drawing inanimate objects as cartoons. Lots of fun there.

Thursday Night Podcast: We checked in on how my productivity schedule is going, AND we started to pick some prompts live with the listeners. Then things went off the rails and we had a lot of laughs at the end about Yellowstone and random sketching.

Saturday: I drew live for 2 hours drawing some b-roll for the topic about FAN ART, and discussed if Fan Art is Legal or not, and the grey areas around Comicons… the big Pirate Ship!

And finally, TODAY, this week’s main video is about how you can get 29Cent High Quality Art prints and make some serious bank…
