Welcome to Week 40 of the Draw or Die Newsletter for Visual Storytellers.
I’m writing this on Christmas morning, if you celebrate the holiday, I hope you’re having a good one! Santa brought me a lot of cool things to draw in that I look forward to filling up this year.
WEEKLY YOUTUBE Re-Cap
I’m focusing more and more in building out the Draw or Die Youtube Channel, so I want to plug the videos from this past week!
New channel trailer featuring the MISSION statement for Draw or Die.
Friday night i posted a video about how I accidentally made a quick $100 in about an hour on LINKEDIN of all places!
The Thursday live Video Podcast we talked about the SNOWBALL effect of how jobs come, and how to shift your thinking a bit…
I forgot to talk about SURVIVING Christmas so I came back on for a bonus stream on how you can survive the stressful holiday season AND continue to draw every damn day! ESPECIALLY HOLIDAYS!!!
AND on the Wednesday Warm-UP we practiced LIKENESS drawing by drawing out some of the cast of the classic Christmas Movie called DIE-HARD.
Thanks for watching over there! AND if you like any of the video content there, please LIKE the actual videos as it helps tell YOUTUBE to serve it up more.
YOUR SANTAS!
Last week’s drawing challenge was to draw your version of Santa as described in the classic “Night Before Christmas”, where I contend that Santa was ELF size, not human size. Let’s take a look at some of the Santas that were tagged or sent in! If the email cuts off, see the whole version on the archives on desktop!
First up, Brian Dunn decided to sculpt out his version of the old elf! Amazing work.

Here’s J-Sun’s action oriented Santa. Love the candy cane as a weapon! J’s insta: https://www.instagram.com/majicalcreatures/
Paul over at Hero Hotel depicted the eld having a little break. https://www.instagram.com/herohotelcomics/
Kaiser Illustrations style is a bit creepier, but cool! I love his illustration style. https://www.instagram.com/kaisers_illustrations_/
Andres at https://www.instagram.com/nuwaver74/ has a pretty spot on depiction based on the description. That’s a jolly old elf for sure!
Jarred Timme did a great job of depicting how “sooty” Santa would be in that description. I don’t understand the robot arm, but it makes it awesome! Check his insta https://www.instagram.com/jarr5d/
I really love this one from Sarah at https://www.instagram.com/sarah.marq.painting/, Santa has been getting fit!
Oh! Here’s another one from Paul! Very DobbyEsque!
Gentleman Jaime Filer tagged this ghoulish creepy elf… I love it!!! Really dig his style over at https://www.instagram.com/jaimie_filer/
And here’s another creepy style one from MILKSOP on TikTok
Apparently Instagram didn’t show me some of these even with the tags. So if you did one and you don’t see it, email me at dj@drawordieclub.com and I’ll feature your art in a future newsletter!
The Weekly Drawing CHALLENGE!
THere’s so much conflict out there in the world. So, this week’s prompt is…
“IMAGINE PEACE ON EARTH and GOODWILL…”
What’s the first thing you think of when you read that? Draw it in your style! Tag #drawordieclub so we can all see what you do!
Don’t forget we have Daily Drawing Prompts to keep your pencil and mind moving. Try it for free.
I hope you all have a wonderful holiday. Relax a bit… but… don’t forget to draw something! Even if it’s small!!!
